Chanta founders at the farm with Johannesburg skyline behind them

Where it started

A farm outside Johannesburg, 2024

Our story

The farm
was always
right there.

We grew up in Johannesburg. Like most city kids, our idea of "fresh juice" came from a carton on a supermarket shelf — pasteurised, preserved, and produced two months ago.

Then we went to the farms just outside the city. The fruit was extraordinary. And nobody was bringing it to our street.

The question

"Why does fast always mean compromising on fresh?"

We asked that question a lot. Every convenience store stocked shelf-stable juice. Every restaurant poured from concentrate. Speed had come at the cost of everything that made juice worth drinking.

How we got here

From a conversation
to your fridge.

The realisation

We visited our first farm.

A friend's family owned an orange farm 40 minutes from Sandton. We went out one weekend and tasted juice pressed on-site. It was incomparable — nothing like what we'd been buying. We drove back to the city in silence, already thinking.

The mission

Bring the farm to the city. Fast.

We weren't building a slow food movement. We wanted the opposite — we wanted fresh produce delivered with the speed and convenience of fast food. If someone can get a burger to your door in 20 minutes, why can't you get real juice from a real farm?

The build

We built the supply chain ourselves.

Direct relationships with local growers. Cold-press on our side. No middlemen, no warehouse delays, no compromises to shelf life. Pressed today, with you tomorrow. That's the whole model.

Right now

Chanta. Cold-pressed in Johannesburg.

We started with one juice because we wanted it to be right before we made it bigger. Our orange is just the beginning. The farm has a lot more to offer — and we're going to bring all of it to you.

What we believe

Fast doesn't have to mean
giving anything up.

Fresh produce should be as convenient as any fast food. Speed and quality are not opposites — they just require a better system.

Direct-to-consumer means the farmer gets a fair price and you get the freshest possible product. Cut the chain, keep the quality.

Johannesburg deserves world-class fresh produce. The fruit is already growing nearby. We just need to close the gap.
